Modesty is the Best Policy

This is a March of the Bloggers guest post!

"Modesty is the Best Policy"

by Allison of Clearing Preppy's Name

It's Friday! But before you get your outfits ready for drinks tonight, we've got a really important post about staying classy.

Allison runs a style blog with a mission: to clear the tainted name of preppy fashion! Shows like Gossip Girl, Mean Girls, etc. have all associated prep style with the elite and cliquey. What a shame! She devotes her blog to showing you her favorite style and why any girl can look fabulous in it.

Today's mission: Addressing modesty and staying classy. Let's read!

Modesty is the best policy.
Hello frock stock darlings & preppy blog followers”

It is lovely to have this honor of typing for you today.

Pay attention. Maybe even take notes.

It is my pleasure to discuss the topic of modesty with you, in a way that is so unlike your sixth grade health teacher, you’ll love it.
I am here to pronounce you a princess.
A stylish, sophisticated, well deserving girl of the title.

Princess (insert name here).
Princesses throughout history have been icons for the every day girl. Both with impeccable fashion sense and the man candy to carry around on her arm, why wouldn’t she be?
From Cinderella to Ariel, they’ve dealt with tough times and still look flawless during their happy endings.
How do they do it, you ask?
Well…
If Cinderella can get her Prince Charming without taking her dress off, then so can you.
Plain and simple.
The princesses have always had standards. They may have to deal with a little longer wait (like Rapunzel) or the might have to work harder to get there (like Cinderella), but they can look glamorous with their small amounts of décolletage and lengthy hemlines. Those wonderful traits accompanied by the right guy and respect from their kingdom make a princess like no other.

A modern day girl can obtain almost everything a fairy tale princess has with standards. She can look beautiful, while leaving something to the imagination. It’s a great skill to have, and easy to do with the assistance of stores like Frock Stock. You don’t need to look frumpy to be modest. In my blog www.clearingpreppysname.wordpress.com I state that I am determined to clear preppy’s name, or in other words, its tainted reputation. In this guest blog entry, I was determined to clear modesty’s name.
You can look cute and modest. I am sure Cinderella had to keep in mind her fairy Godmother’s approval at the ball, and look where she ended up. She looked stunning and won over a man, a great optional accessory.

Love, Allison.

I agree wholeheartedly with this post. It's important to stay true to yourself and keep it CLASSY! You'll get better jobs, have a better reputation, and feel better about yourself if you remember that you can look beautiful if you dress modestly.

Thankfully vintage fashion and prep fashion both have that quality. You can look stylish and adorable in these styles and keep your dignity.

Thanks Allison for addressing this sometimes controversial subject! Be sure to visit her blog and leave some comments for a chance to win free jewelry.

What do you think about dressing "modestly"?

  1. I really appreciate this post! I too try to dress modestly. I feel less self-conscious that way and I think it just shows more self-respect. I really love the dresses in this post too!
