This is a March of the Bloggers guest post!

It's The Ides of March today, but instead of stabbing your friends in the back today, how about we all make peace over some delicious banana bread? We've got a fabulous baking post today by Ruthanne (with an e!) whose delightful blog title is an ode to herself, her grandmother, and Anne of Green Gables. She writes about many things in her life including baking, fashion, music, and her beautiful homeland. She's here to share a bit about her life and of course, some delicious banana bread!

Hello, you dear Frock Stock readers, you! I'm Ruthanne, and I blog over here, at Ruthanne with an E. I'm a redheaded spitfire of a 16 year old, or so I've been told ;) I'm insanely social, ridiculously scatterbrained, blue eyed and the oldest of 5...people say that makes me just buckets of odd. I don't mind though.
I love all things vintage, musical, western, delicious and fashionable. I love to sew and create; sing and worship Jesus, and bake! I'm addicted to coffee, cupcakes, and instagram...annnnnd I just so happen to live in the most gorgeous place ever! When people ask me what I love to do I can never answer cause there are so many things! so here's a taste of my life in a few (or more) photos.

so, I'm guessing you picked up on it, but I like skies....and food....and coffee. my siblings appeared a few times....as well as musical things. it's an obsession! seriously. anyway. moving on to the meat of this post!

Today I decided I'd share my mama's banana bread recipe with you, and man is it delicious!!!!

What you'll need:
1 1/4 c. sugar
2/3 c. softened butter
3-4 mashed bananas (the riper the better!)
1/4 c. milk
1/4 cup sour cream (I usually do half greek yogurt and half sour cream, but either works)
2 large eggs
2 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp salt
cooking spray

instructions:

1. preheat oven to 350º & spray your bread pan(s) with nonstick cooking spray.

2. beat sugar and butter in mixer till well blended. add banana, milk, sour cream and eggs. beat well.

3. combine four, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg in a medium sized bowl and mix well. gradually add dry ingredients to wet and mix until well blended.

4. fill your pan(s) with the batter and place in oven. bake for about 40 minutes - higher elevation requires longer, though. I'm at about 7000 feet above sea level, so it takes a while. Roughly 50 minutes. if you're worried about 40 minutes being too long, just bump it down to 30 and slowing increase it.

5. let cool for about 10 minutes and serve warm! my favorite way is with a little bit of butter and a glass of milk!

6. enjoy!

note: this will yield about one rather large loaf or two smaller ones, but you can always do mini loafs or even muffins, I'm sure! Just remember to bump the baking time down for that!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this yummy recipe, and if you have a chance, come on over and say hi! I'd love to get to know you!
