Fashion Inspiration: Winter Capes

Capes are one of our favorite fashion statements this season! They look good on any body type and keep you warm and cozy when the weather is looking dismal. Plus, every store seems to have at least one right now, so there are sooo many color/print choices!

How to style the cape:

The biggest problem with the cape is its oversized fit. First, you don't want it to be too big on you or you'll look like you're swimming in fabric. In order to maintain a lean shape, try to pair with skinny jeans or a long pencil skirt. Boots, vintage-style hats, and embellished gloves all look great with capes!

Inspiration: Fall Colors

These are our favorite colors that have been on the fashion scene this fall. I wanted to put a collage together made of fabrics swatches, fashion, and their fall counterparts to help inspire your weekend's wardrobe choices. Fashion items come from our own Frock Stock inventory and various stores on Polyvore's listings.


MOSS

Looks great on anyone with earth tone colors, whether you have brown eyes, "bronde" hair, or are brunette. Pair with chestnut, taupe, or cream.

EGGPLANT

Last year eggplant was everywhere, so try something new with it this year. Get a cute eggplant-colored bag or accessory to pair with another bright.

CHESTNUT

Get rid of your blacks this fall! Brown tones are the perfect "base" for all your outfits right now. Consider buying a brown coat or brown corduroys for your fall staple.




MUSTARD

Mustard can be tricky so be careful with this color! The wrong shade can look sickly, so when going for mustard go bright. Mustard tights look adorable under any casual dress.

RUST

Even though Halloween is over, orange is still abounding in nature! Despite it being a bright color you can pair it with other bright fall colors such as green, purple, or mustard.

WINE

Wine looks especially beautiful with cream or ivory. This is why the color looks quite good on pale women. We can see this color definitely lasting on through spring, so don't be afraid to invest in some wine-colored clothes!

This skirt is sooo versatile, so we've decided to style it two different ways instead of just one, and it's definitely not limited to these two.

Style #1: Warm and Cozy

With this chunky sweater from H&M and these fabulous pilot booties from DSW you'll be warm, comfy, and stylish this fall. A long necklace helps fill up all that chunky sweater space and the knee highs will keep you cozy as well. The length of the sweater doesn't matter - cropped, regular, and long all look good with the Wanderer Skirt. The asymmetry of the skirt will definitely help you show off your boots, unlike other maxis skirts that might hide them. Don't forget to grab a warm tumbler of tea to carry with you on your chilly fall wanderings.

Style #2: Feminine Ethereal

Anything lacy or sheer on top will dress up this feminine skirt. We like this blouse from Madewell because of the trendy Peter Pan collar on it. Add some oxford heels, pearls, and pastel colors to keep this look sweet and girly.
