Spring Trends

This is a March of the Bloggers guest post!

"Spring Trends"

***

Good morning ladies! Chicago may be chilly today but I hope everyone out there is having some nice spring weather.

Today we're talking all about spring trends! Our guest blogger Lisa runs a super cute blog called "Shoestring Fashion." Her blog focuses on being a "frugal fashionista" - using what's already in your closet to create something fresh and new or finding great deals out in the stores. We love blogs like this!

I'm so excited to be visiting on Frock Stock today from my little blog, Shoestring Fashion. Shoestring Fashion shows you how to take all that stuff you have hanging in your closet and create all the looks you are coveting.

So, who is ready for spring? I have to admit I am more of a fall girl myself but all of the fun spring trends have got me itching for spring. Here's what I am most excited about:

1. Colored pants. A carryover from fall, this trend is sticking around. I have a pair of green pants that I've already worn a couple of times and have my eye on these yellow ones from LOFT.

2. Pastels. What's more fem than pastels? I can't wait to wear these candy colors and more.

3. Floral (and other spring) prints. I have been hesitant to wear floral prints in the past but these picks are definitely on my list.

What is on your spring wish list?

Thank you so much for having me!

These are my three favorites too! I think every girl should own a pair of colored pants... even if the "trend" goes away, it's so boring to always be wearing blue denim on our legs! Colored pants need to stay!

If you're still in your fall and winter mutes then it's imperative you take a look at what our guest blogger Calley has to say today! One of my favorite blogger trends of late is inspiration posts and Calley does a lot of this over at her fabulous blog. Full of inspirations, photo collages, and more, her blog always has an eye for the beautiful and striking. She's here with a few of her amazing collages to pay homage to the necessity of color in our lives.

COLOR takes precedent over everything this season.  Whether you make unexpected combinations or dress in tonal colors, as long as your outfit packs a punch of color, you are all set! Our favorite colors this Spring are all shades of lavender, mint, yellow, chartreuse, and pink!! We love them in pastels AND neons and especially mixed with neutrals!  WE HEART COLOR!! xo, the cult of style

My personal favorite color of the season is MINT! What's your favorite color right now?

Spring Makeup Products

This is a March of the Bloggers guest post!

"Spring Makeup Products"

Happy Friday ladies! Is everyone starting to feel the warm winds of spring in their hometowns? Spring fashion has exploded here in Chicago now that we've hit a warm spell. Today we've got some great spring makeup products to accompany those beautiful floral prints and pastel hues you plan on wearing this weekend!

Our guest blogger today is Amy who runs an adorable blog all about makeup, fashion, and her life! She's here to share her cosmetic expertise with all of you searching for that fresh spring makeup look.

Spring means pastel colors and warm weather, of course!  No need to limit your love for pastel colors to just your clothing, incorporate it into your makeup routine for seasonal kick.  Every season I switch my makeup to reflect the colors of the season, whether it be neutrals for Fall or neons for Summer, it gives me a chance to switch things up, and of course, a reason to buy new makeup.  This Spring neon colors are taking over pastels' place, but since I like to save the neon for Summer, I decided to seek out makeup that incorporates pastel with a bit of neon to stay on trend while keeping it traditional.

Here are my picks for Spring 2012:

Spring is the Too Faced Romantic Eye Shadow Pallet

This pallet has a variety of pastel shades, as well as darker colors for contouring and creating a smokey eye.  Shades like Honeymoon and Cut the Cake are pastel, but bright enough to be seen and incorporate a neon feel.  Too Faced shadows are by far my favorite shadows since they stay on all day and do not crease.  This is a great pallet that can work for day and night looks.

Benefit Face Brightening Powder in Dandelion

When Spring hits you want your skin to appear radiant and full of life, but since that Summer sun kissed glow is not yet attainable, achieve radiance with Benefit's Dandelion powder.  Dandelion is a mid-tone pastel pink with a hint of shimmer.  It is just bright enough to show, yet now overpowering.  Sweep it over your favorite blush or use alone.  Dandelion's staying power is fantastic, even on my oily skin.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter

Lip Butters have been all the rage for a few months now and transitional well into the Spring makeup category.  Colors like Peach Parfait, Cotton Candy, Cupcake, Gumdrop, and Creamsicle are a great way to add a hint of color to your lips while nourishing them at the same time.  Lip Butters last about as long as your average lipstick and are not sticky like lip glosses.  Each Lip Butter contains shimmer, but nothing overpowering.  I would certainly recommend picking up a few to add to your Spring collection.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Strawberry Milk

http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/products/eyes/eye-shadow/jumbo-eye-pencil
I like to use NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils as a base before applying my eyeshadow.  It helps shadow stay longer and look more vibrant.  Strawberry Milk is a great pastel pink that will compliment all of your Spring eyeshadow shades.

As you can see it is fairly easy to incorporate Spring pastels into your makeup collection.  Do not be afraid to have fun and experiment with color!  Spring is a great time to get rid of the Winter blues with fun new makeup pieces.

What are your favorite Spring makeup items?

I love Too Faced's products - I think they're the best eyeshadow palettes out there. Loved this insight into spring makeup, too!

Spring Color: Pastels

This is a March of the Bloggers guest post!

"Spring Color"
by Shannon of Shannon Heart's

It's Monday, so if you're bored and stuck in the office, we've got a little treat for your break today! With me here is Shannon, a blogger that I look up to greatly. Not only does Shannon have fabulous style advice on her blog, but she's got some amazing accomplishments to go with it. Shannon has almost 800 followers on her blog and some pretty big sponsors of her page. Once you see her post, you'll see why...

Hello Frock Stock readers!  I am Shannon from Shannon Heart's.  I am so excited to be here today.  I am a California girl who loves fashion, food, friends and blogging!  I blog about personal style, fashion, photography and all the beautiful things that inspire me along the way.

The warm days of spring are approaching quickly, and I couldn't be more excited.  Spring fashion is all about flirty dresses, pretty colors and feminine prints.  My favorite color trend of the season is pastels.  Pastels are soft and pretty and so easy to wear.   You can mix and match different pastel shades, or wear one shade from head to toe.  My favorite shades of the season are peach and mint.  I just can't get enough of pastels!  How about you?

Thank you so much for having me!  Much love to all of you.  Please pop over and visit me at Shannon Heart's.

I can't agree more with Shannon. I LOVE pastels and I'm so glad they're in style right now. A lot of my vintage items are pastel so I'm busting out quite a few right now. I definitely think the "IT" pastel right now is mint, so if you invest in any pastel this spring, that's a big one to look out for!

Don't forget to check out Shannon's blog and tell her what you think of pastels in the comment box for a chance to win some free jewelry!
